Inside the Studio!

When you’re on a practical course such as TV Production, one of the main ways in which you learn is through being hands on with the TV equipment. At Glyndwr we are fortunate enough to have access to a state of the art TV studio kitted out with a DMX Lighting grid alongside a 5pc camera set-up, complete with JVC GY-HM890U and Blackmagic 4K UHD cameras.

In each of the modules, we have been exploring different areas which eventually we will be able to apply together to create our own projects using every aspect of the wide variety of technology on offer. In both Glenn and Dan’s modules we use the cameras, however with Glenn in Multi-camera Production we are currently looking more into how we can utilise the studio set-up to utilise the gallery upstairs. We have been looking at using PIP which could be used during news broadcasts while also looking at how they could be applied to different television situations.

Within Lighting and Colour with Dan, we have been looking at how to key a green screen and learning about where you might look to use a green screen within the industry such as when it would be inefficient cost wise to build a whole set. We have also been looking at industry safe zones in terms of the the colour and gamma scopes.
