Who Did It??

On the 20th February the first and second year students from the Television Production course collaborated with students from the Policing, Forensics and Theatre and Performance courses in order to reconstruct a conflict that results in the death of a student. Working alongside the North Wales Police and Ambulance services, the aim of the day was to accurately construct what it would have been like for the emergency services in the event of such an incident to allow the students from their respective courses to work alongside industry professionals. On the day, the television students were there to film the event in order to utilise this opportunity and use it towards our controlled assessment. This includes filming a segment for a TV show, which our group decided that due to the nature of the event, should be used as part of a news reel. Although we were there to film, in order to keep up the authenticity the police interviewed members of our group for accounts to build a case against the alleged suspect. On the day, we were able to catch interviews with both the head of the police squad ahead of the afternoon press conference alongside two police officers who gave their accounts on what had happened on that day.

I gained a lot of experience on this day. It enabled me to make myself aware of the situation and adjust my behaviour accordingly. It also helped me to become more efficient in what I film as this event was very fast paced and required me to work close knit with other members of a team in order to capture the necessary footage.
